BILLINGHAM TOWN PLAYER PROFILES 2001-11

JAMES BRIGGS – goalkeeper. Previous clubs: Norton and Stockton Ancients. Signed from Norton in the summer, spent three seasons at Station Road and was integral part of Norton reaching the FA Vase Quarter Final. Excellent shot - stopper and good all round game.

JASON HAMILTON – goalkeeper. Previous clubs: Darlington RA, Norton Reserves and spells with Billingham Town . Jason returned to the club for another spell after signing from Darlington RA late last season. Jason is vastly experience at Northern League level and is a great shot stopper and presence in the box.

RICHIE DACOMBE – defender. Previous clubs: Northallerton Town, Norton & Stockton Ancients and Billingham Town. Scottish born Richie is a left sided defender signed from Northallerton Town in the summer. Very comfortable on the ball and enjoys getting forward when possible.

CHRIS DUNWELL – defender. Previous clubs: Horden CW, Darlington RA, Norton & Stockton Ancients, Wolviston . Chris joined the club at the back end of last season from Horden C.W. Chris is a centre half who has struggled with a ankle ligament injury pre-season and hopes to fit and back in the squad by October. Can also go between the sticks when called upon.

JAMES MIDDLETON – defender. Previous clubs: Norton & Stockton Ancients, West Auckland, Billingham Synthonia, Shildon, Marske United. Jamo is a classy player who can play anywhere on the park. Has lots of experience at this level and was part of the Shildon side that reached the first round proper of the FA Cup, scoring against Notts County.

DANIEL WRAY – defender. Danny is a versatile and athletic defender who can also play in midfield when called upon. Comfortable on the ball and strong in the air and has been with the club since junior football and has been in the first team for several seasons. Voted ‘Supporters Player of the Year’ 2008-09.

JAMES CROSSMAN – defender. Previous clubs: Bishop Auckland. Jambo is at the club for another season after being voted Player of the Season for the 2009/2010 season after excelling in defence in most games last term. Centre half.

SEAN BOYNTON – defender. Previous clubs: Thornaby, Norton & Stockton Ancients. Sean returns for another season after playing a major part in saving the club from relegation last term, can play anywhere across the back and was voted ‘Player of the Year in 2008-09’.

DANIEL O'BRIEN – defender. Previous clubs: Norton and Stockton Ancients, Coxhoe . Danny played for Coxhoe in the Wearside League last season as well as featuring for Norton on a few occasions. Plays primarily at right full back and likes to get forward as well as being a tough tackling defender.

ALAN COSSAVELLA – defender, captain. Previous clubs: Norton & Stockton Ancients, Thornaby, Wolviston. Alan signed in the summer after spending two very successful seasons at neighbours Norton. Primarily used as a midfielder but is capable of deputising in the back four.

LOUIS WHENSLEY – defender. Previous clubs: Shildon, Wolviston, Darlington RA . Louis stays on for another season at the club. Tough tackling tenacious midfielder. Louis can be used at right full back also and has impressed in both midfield and defence in his time at the club.

STEPHEN ROBERTS – midfielder. Previous clubs: Norton & Stockton Ancients, Northallerton Town, Spennymoor Town. Stav is staying on for his second consecutive season at the club. Attacking midfielder who has also been known to play in a forward role. Chips in with his fair share of goals from midfield plus a couple of impressive games in goal last season.

MICHAEL ARTHUR – defender. Previous clubs: Wolviston, Guisborough Town, Guisborough Black Swan, Stokesley . Michael has signed this season after being spotted in local football. He played the back end of last season for neighbours Wolviston in the Wearside League. A naturally gifted left sided player who has played at both left back and left midfield in pre season.

MARCUS LAING – defender. Previous Club: Norton & Stockton Ancients. Marcus is a summer signing after spending over 10 years at Norton. Attacking midfielder who is effective in playing in behind the front men. Has a reputation for scoring plenty of goals from midfield.

CRAIG NORMAN – forward. Previous clubs: Stokesley, Thornaby Dubliners. Craig is a summer signing from Stokesley and he played a big part in their first ever promotion to the top division of the Northern League. Craig is wide player who is very direct and likes to run at defenders and regularly getting on the scoresheet.

STEPHEN FLOCKETT – forward. Previous clubs: Tow Law Town, West Auckland, Billingham Synthonia, Hartlepool United. Flocky returned last season for his second spell after previously spending a very successful time with Town. Flocky is a very fit, direct forward who can also play in wide positions. He is expected to get plenty of goals for Town this season.

MICHAEL DUNWELL – forward, assistant manager. Previous clubs: Norton & Stockton Ancients, Billingham Synthonia, Durham City, Bishop Auckland. Michael has signed for the club from neighbours Norton and joins the management team as well as fulfilling a major playing role this term. Experience striker who has scored plenty of vital goals wherever he has been.

CRAIG PERRY – defender. Previous clubs: Billingham Synthonia, Blyth Spartans, Whitby Town. Craig left Town in the 2001-02 season to join Blyth. After two years he joined Synthonia where he has been an ever present.

GLEN BUTTERWORTH, forward. Previous clubs: Guisborough Town, Stokesley. Glen was Guisborough Towns leading goalscorer last season.

CARL JARRETT – manager. Previous clubs: Norton & Stockton Ancients, Stillington. Carl was previously on the coaching staff at Norton & Stockton Ancients and was involved in the promotion winning campaign of 2008-09 before leaving the club. Carl was asked to join Billingham Town as assistant manager last season and this season he takes on the role as manager for his first season.

PAUL SCOTT – Physio. Paul joins the club for his first season after spending two successful seasons at Norton. Paul is qualified and works full time as a paramedic as well as carrying out physiotherapist duties for the club.
